Abstract

Benchmarking HPC systems can be tedious, time-consuming and require a lot of effort. Especially if the user is inexperienced. This thesis lowers the entry barrier to this process by designing a framework with a GUI for HPC system benchmarks. An evaluation of a variety of different benchmarks determines that they can be aggregated under one roof, since they are often quite similar in the way they are setup, configured and run. A design for the framework is created, that provides a good user experience, but also defines clear interfaces for implementing new benchmarks. The design is put to the test by developing a prototype of the framework and implementing the HPL benchmark. Interesting aspects of the implementation are presented and the prototype is thoroughly tested. It performs well and provides a more easy way of using the HPL benchmark. Future plans are discussed and a conclusion drawn that the goals of this thesis are reached.
